I love this family. Do you ever meet a family and decide to adopt them? I did. Or maybe it was the other way around, but either way, it’s a mutual love. I met the McPherson clan back in 2008 when I got to photograph Ben and Joy’s wedding. It was apparent even then – this was a great family. (And they were all really talented dancers.) Then I got to photograph Stephanie and Bruce’s wedding in 2011. And now, it’s become a wedding trifecta with Susan and Scott this past St. Patrick’s Day in Lawrenceville, Georgia. I was so excited to get there that I lead footed it for the majority of the trip. However since the very nice officer of the law didn’t give me a ticket after he pulled me over, I heeded his warning for at least an hour.
Both Scott and Susan are so easy going, that they let me pick the location for their First Look. Less than a mile away was a beautiful rustic property with green fields, blooming trees, a red barn and a giant For Sale sign. We struck gold. Mind you, Scott and Susan are so deliriously in love, I could have brought them to the CVS and they wouldn’t have cared. But it was perfect! Well almost perfect. I managed to step in a pile of angry fire ants, but other than that, it was p-e-r-f-e-c-t!
The ceremony was widely attended by family family, church family and even Bruce skyped in from the other side of the world. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. And afterwards, while Scott and Susan were dancing and laughing, a few of their friends decorated their car with everything but the kitchen sink. It was diabolically brilliant. The McPherson clan has four more young daughters so I’m keeping my fingers crossed this fun wedding streak continues. I just hope I’m not too old to get those crazy dance floor antics by then!
